Washington-St. Tammany Electric Coop sponsors              Washington Youth Tour


Two local students will have the opportunity to join more than 1,500 students from all across America in a week long, all expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. This unique trip sponsored by Washington-St. Tammany Electric Cooperative will change your life!!.  You will have the opportunity to meet your U.S. Representatives and Senators.  History will come alive as you explore the museums, memorials and monuments with others from Louisiana.  You will meet student leaders from 45 states and hear dynamic leaders on Youth Day.  This once-in-a lifetime trip will be where you will make friendships and be a part of a group that has more than 50,000 alumni in every walk of life including U.S. Senators and CEOs.


It is a chance to:

  • Learn the role of electric co-ops in the national economy;
  • Gain an appreciation for the democratic form of government;
  • Experience sights and sounds of our nation’s heritage;
  • Build leadership skills to make a difference in your community; and
  • Meet friends from Louisiana and other parts of the nation.




The contest is open to children, ages 16-18, of WST members. Students interested in applying should complete the application and return by March 6, 2020 with your essay.  This year’s topic is at the bottom of the application.  That’s it!!!!  The Louisiana Cooperative statewide will judge to select two winners.
